03. Onward – In a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father who died when they were too young to remember him. The journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. When the boys’ fearless mom realises that her sons are missing, she teams up with the legendary winged-lion-scorpion former warrior, The Manticore and goes on a quest to find them. This one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed. I love this movie because after a long time it is an original Pixar animated movie. 8 out of the 11 Pixar movies that came out were prequels, sequels, spin-offs, so it’s really good to see an original movie. Interesting fact, this is also based on the director Dan Scanlon’s true story
02. The traitor – The movie follows the real-life story of Tommaso Buscetta who flees to hide out in Brazil. Back in Italy, Buscetta’s allies are killed off one after another. Arrested by the Brazilian police, Buscetta makes a decision that will change the entire story of the Mafia: He decides to meet with Judge Falcone and to everything Cosa Nostra did. If you like courtroom dramas based on true events, you’ll be satisfied by the movie.
01. System Crasher – She is small, but dangerous. Wherever Benni ends up, she is immediately expelled. The wild 9-year-old girl has already become what child protection services call a “system crasher”. And she is not looking to change, she only has a single goal: to be back home with her mother, but she is scared of her own daughter. Mrs. Bafané from child protection services is trying her best to find a permanent place for Benni. She hires the anger management trainer Micha as Benni’s school escort and suddenly there is a seed of hope. Will Micha be able to succeed where all the others failed? This movie really disturbed me with its subject but damn it’s so good and I highly recommend you watch. Movies like this don’t come around too often.
