Another 1994 movie, a movie that will forever be a classic, a movie that won 6 Oscars, including best picture and best actor at the 1995 Oscars! I’m of course talking about the masterpiece that is Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a simple man with a low I.Q. but good intentions. He is running through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His ‘mama’ played wonderfully by Sally Field teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends called lieutenant Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, creates a famous shrimp restaurant, inspires people to jog, starts a ping-pong craze, creates the smiley face icon, writes bumper stickers and songs, donates to people and meets the president several times. However, this is all irrelevant to him. He can only think of his childhood sweetheart Jenny, who has messed up her life. Although in the end all he wants to prove is that anyone can love anyone.
This is such a great movie, I can’t get enough of it. It’s really hard to pinpoint what kind of genre this movie actually is. It’s funny, it’s romantic, it’s sad, it’s also a brutal war movie. This movie is really great at toying with your emotions. The movie is very quotable as well:
– ”Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
– ”Run, Forrest, run!”
– ”Shit happens.”
The list is endless as well as my list of all the praises for this movie. This movie absolutely gets a 10/10* for me.
I will be watching this movie many more times in the future. If you haven’t seen Forrest Gump yet, I don’t know why you haven’t. Once you watch it, you can’t just watch it once. You’ll see it many more times. This movie is like a drug, people. But a good, harmless drug at that
Also, Tom Hanks, get well soon, you absolute legend. Don’t let this Corona virus get the better of you.
