Jackboots on Whitehall (2010) Movie Review

Jackboots on Whitehall (2010) Movie Review - Quick Movie Reviews by Haris

I was surprised by the cast list/voice actors of this movie. Rosamund Pike, Dominic West, Timothy Spall, Ewan McGregor, Alan Cumming. Judging by the cast, I thought this would be a pretty ok movie. Is it, though? World War II: What if Nazis seized London and all of England had to band together? When Nazi leaders invade by drilling under the English Channel and up through the cobblestones on Whitehall, Churchill leaves his quiet retirement with a cat that looks like Hitler to issue a call to arms from his underground bunker. Chris, a young farmer with big hands (yes, those big hands are mentioned so many times in this movie) rallies his village to fight the Nazis. His team is an alcoholic Vicar, the oldest man in the town, several idiots, a random Frenchman and Bobby Fiske, a swearing American who believes he’s battling Russians. The world’s future is in their tiny plastic hands. Yes, I said plastic hands. This movie uses innovative animatronic puppets. This movie is a parody. I love parodies. This movie, though? I found it kind of boring and unfunny. The jokes were so few and far between. It felt like a collection of bad Robot Chicken sketches. This movie isn’t really that good, but then again it’s not terrible to the point that you hate yourself for watching it. If you want to pass some time or if you’re surfing through the channels looking for anything around 11 o’clock at night, you might enjoy this movie.

I’m giving it a 6/10*
