Now this is how you make a movie based on a video game. This is a movie that’s a massive guilty pleasure for me. I know it’s not good, I know it’s stupid, but, I don’t care at all. The action is intentionally over-the-top and you can see they really tried to make a fun movie here. This wasn’t just some shitty cash grab. I’m going to rewatch this movie so many times.
So Lara Croft is the daughter of a rich Lord Richard Croft and she is an archaeologist. She goes on a dangerous journey to recover two halves of an ancient artefact which controls time and she must get it before it falls into the wrong hands, the hands of the villain of this movie, Manfred Powell. Also, an extremely rare planetary alignment is about to happen for the first time in 5,000 years, and she teams up with rival adventurers and sworn enemies to collect the two pieces, while time is running out.
You know, who actually cares about this plot, honestly? This movie is just about the cool action scenes. You know what, this is a perfect Friday night movie and tomorrow is Friday night. Do yourself a favour and make a huge portion of pop corn and just have as much fun as I did while watching this movie. I’m giving this movie a 10/10* for entertainment and 5/10* for the plot. Even if you’re a hard-to-impress movie watcher, this movie is that rare movie that will make you go, wow, I actually had a great time watching this movie.
