The lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. Pumpkin and Honey Bunny are two thieves who, while dining at a coffee shop, decide that the best thing to do is to rob it. Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, two hit men working for mob kingpin Marcellus Wallace, are sent to retrieve a very special and very mysterious briefcase for their boss. Vincent later must also show Mrs. Wallace a good time while her husband is out. Butch Coolidge is an aging prizefighter who is being paid to “take a dive”, but instead accidentally kills his opponent, and tries to flee town, but not before getting his dead father’s lucky golden watch. These four seemingly unrelated stories are interwoven in a non-linear fashion. Soon, things will come full circle, as, once more, Jules and Vincent find themselves in the perfect dead-end situation, exactly where it all began: an all-too-familiar cafeteria. Is truth stranger than fiction?
I gotta talk about the positives with this movie, because there are no negatives, honestly. This is Quentin Tarantino’s second least violent and bloody movie. Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman are great in this movie. The soundtrack and music choices for this movie is fantastic. Also love the restaurant scene which has a late 1960’s early 1970’s theme. This is also quite a funny a movie, it isn’t too serious. There’s quite a bit of dry humor in this. The writing is also great. Should it have won an oscar for it over two other great movies that came out that year like Forrest Gump and The Shawshank redemption? I don’t know about that. 1994 was a great year for movies. Léon the professional and The usual suspects also came out that year. Might be talking about those movies too one day.
Anyway, without further ado, I’m giving this movie 10/10*! I highly recommend you see it. If you don’t like too much violence or blood, this movie might still be ok for you. As I said, this is Tarantino’s second least violent movie.
