Matt Damon
Scarlett Johansson

Probably one of the best films that I saw this year. There are so many emotional ups and downs in this movie that you'll find yourself wiping away tears multiple times throughout the film. Matt Damon does a good job in this role that is older than most he has played and you can feel the emotions from all of the characters as they interact with each other and with the animals. There's a spark between Damon and Johansson that is clear but at the same time I left more than satisfied with the resolution.

The story revolves around Benjamin Mee and his two kids who have recently lost their mother. In the midst of the crisis that each is going through, Benjamin decides to buy a home out in the country that has a little baggage with it: an old broken down zoo. The zoo needs a lot of work and so do the lives and relationships of those involved. Cameron Crowe has mixed the humor in very well and doesn't go over the top anywhere where many may have turned this into a gag comedy.

The musical score is excellently done and brings the emotional punch full force at exactly the right moments. I found myself wiping away tears at several moments as the music was kicking up.

There were more kids in the theater than I expected, but they did pretty well with the movie. It was definitely aimed at an older audience (they give away the truth about the Easter Bunny) but with the animals and light laughs the kids still seemed to enjoy it.

Go see this movie!

My Conclusion:
Go see this movie.
