This is not as action packed or scary/tense as the last one. The last one had so many orcs and the nightmare inducing Nazguls. Damn, that screech of theirs and their black robes are bone-chilling. And did I also mention they’re faceless? This movie is much more character-driven than the first one. When I was a kid, I found it really boring and very disappointing, but, as an adult, I appreciate it a lot now. So, when it comes to new characters in this movie, we get introduced to Gollum, King Theoden, Wormtongue, Eowyn, Eomer and so many more cool characters. Now, Andy Serkis’ Gollum and Bernard Hill’s Bernard Hill’s king Theoden give almost oscar-worthy performances in this movie. Such great characters. And in this movie, Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas become even more watchable than in this movie. The on-screen chemistry between these actors/characters is great. Every character in this movie is fleshed out really well. Merry and Pippin, Frodo and Sam.
Another 10/10* for me!
