American Fiction was a surprise for best adapted screenplay. I expected Oppenheimer here.

I was also disappointed but not surprised that Paul Giamatti didn’t win for best actor. I loved Cillian Murphy, but Paul Giamatti was better for me.

The Zone of Interest could have won best picture. I just feel like it was a slightly more powerful and important movie than Oppenheimer.

I also wasn’t impressed with the best original song choice. What Was I Made For? is a good song, don’t get me wrong, but, overall, I liked I’m Just Ken more. Especially after that spectacular performance But hey, what do I know about music, lol 😉

As for the award ceremony itself, there were no incidents this year. There was a really funny scripted sketch with naked John Cena, though. Jimmy Kimmel was a good host, everything went nice and smooth I liked his humor quite a bit. I think the highlight of the whole night was Ryan Gosling’s performance of the song I’m Just Ken, with Slash as the special guest on guitar. This year’s oscars were really a joy to watch. I feel bad for anyone who missed them! 🙂
